A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. DeBray has lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1986. He received his undergraduate degree in history from University of Oregon in 1992, and his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 1996. He has practiced criminal defense since a stint as a legal intern at The Defender Association in Seattle. In 1999, he moved to east Jefferson County and worked as a public defender in Island and Clallam counties as well as Jefferson County, handling many misdemeanor and felony matters. After a year in private practice in Port Townsend, he moved in 2006 to “the other side” of the criminal justice arena, handling misdemeanors briefly, then felony matters for over two years as a deputy prosecutor.
Now based in Olympia, Mr. DeBray is a member of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College for DUI Defense. In addition, he holds a certificate of completion from the University of Washington’s Extension Program in forensic science, and has completed the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Testing certification course taught by Walden, Platt and Associates of Bryan, Texas.
He considers himself to be an active practitioner and student of the law, always striving to serve his clients better to protect their rights, reputations and livelihoods.
